Hexicon provides a varied and diverse set of magical rules spread across twelve distinct magical professions each with its own set of spells and abilities. In keeping with Hexicon's generic nature the magical system allows players and Games Masters to create almost any type of magic-user to suit any campaign or world-setting. The twelve magic-using professions are: The Alchemist - a creator of enchanted items, runes, scrolls and potions. The Druid - a practitioner of natural magic who can change form and communicate with the animal kingdom. The Elven Bard - a weaver of subtle magic through the use of music and song. The Illusionist - a creator of powerful (and harmful) illusions. The Pixi Chief-Trickster - a specialist in bizarre magic used to torment mortal races. The Priest - a mortal who gains power through the worship of a deity. The Psionic - a mage who concentrates the power of the mind to influence the world and others. The Shaman - a medicine man who communes with the world of the spirits. The Summoner - the necromancer or the demonologist who dabbles with forbidden magic. The Sverian-Magi - a race native to Korin-Thar. The Warrior-Monk - a religious warrior who uses meditative techniques to achieve seemingly magical physical results. The Wizard - the archetypal magician equipped with a huge array of spells and abilities. Spells and magical-abilities in Hexicon are learnt and developed through the expenditure of Experience Points (EPs). Putting EPs into a ability or spell will not only increase the chance the mage has of using the spell but also at the same time increase its potency (or Spell Strength). All of the magical abilities and spells are detailed in a separate 60-page booklet included in the main game back.
